As we were reading through 1 John together this verse sparked the addition of this section, "He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life." While many people have thoughts and baggage associated with this idea, the reality is that all of our trying and good deeds are less than they could be and not enough if we are not connected with God through the sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ. There are many terms for this or ways that people talk about it but I like the terms "connected" and "disconnected". In our culture we know what it means when our phone is connected or disconnected and we also know when this happens with our internet connection. In the same way we are either connected or disconnected to God. In a much greater way than these other examples, living in a disconnected state from God leaves a person with a void and living a life not as full or vibrant. As a church and ministry it is our desire to see people living the kind of vibrant, full & eternal lives that only come by accepting and knowing God's Son!
Just like the Bible says in 1 John 5, connecting with God is as simple as accepting God's Son Jesus and instantly receiving eternal life! There is a lot to be said about what to do & how to live after connecting with God, but it all starts here...
You can connect with God this very moment simply by praying and meaning these words...
